The restoration of “Millie”

I’ve loved cars since riding my quadmobile around my neighborhood as a toddler, which makes this restoration a particularly meaningful project for me. I am in the early stages of the project, mapping out the required work and planning the build sequence to minimize downtime.

I believe the best way to grow as an engine specialist and mechanic is through direct, hands-on experience.

    • Transmission system diagnostics, focusing on root-cause analysis of a gooey gearbox

    • Suspension system inspection and refurbishment

    • Blue exhaust smoke and a fuel odor during operation suggest oil consumption and an overly rich mixture; inspect piston rings, valve seals, and cylinder condition, with honing or re-lining as required

    • Leather reupholstering with replacement of seat internals

    • Dashboard repairs, including reattaching loose panels

      • Potential restoration of the wood dashboard

    • Rust removal and treatment

    • Trim restoration

    • Full paint process: stripping, priming, painting, and finishing

    • Brake pads replacement

    • Filters and fluid replacement

    • Piston ring replacement

    • Replacement of all rubber pads and hoses

    • Upgrade of select tubing to stainless steel

    • Red-Kote treatment of the fuel tank interior to prevent corrosion and fuel system issues
